Shaping Commercial Strategy

Background

Appointed by the former NBA Commissioner, the task was to shape the NBA’s Sacramento Kings’ Go-To-Market commercial strategy, including sales and marketing plans for various sports and entertainment properties. The opportunity involved leading the organization through a new ownership transition and the development of a new downtown arena.

Results

Revenue Growth: Achieved $150M in revenue by restructuring the sales team and galvanizing sponsorship support, resulting in a 200% revenue increase over five years.  


Ticketing Revenue: Generated a 150% increase in one year, adding $70M through dynamic ticket pricing and optimized sales strategies.


Premium Seating Sales: Sold $140M in suite sales and $110M in club and courtside seating, enhancing the franchise's revenue from premium offerings.

Conclusion

The strategic interventions and leadership provided under this initiative successfully transformed the commercial strategy of the NBA franchise. By implementing dynamic pricing models, optimizing sales strategies, and securing landmark deals, the franchise achieved remarkable revenue growth and established itself as a leader in the industry.
